Why is the news always bad?

It seems like every time I glance across the front page of the Void City Echo it announces yet another gory murder. As one of the city's taxi drivers, I see the best and the worst of Void City's residents, and I have to tell you, the news is bad because this city is full of weird people doing weird things. And it's not just the East Side anymore. Just the other day, I picked up a classy looking business lady outside the Lovett Building. It wasn't until after I stopped that I noticed she was carrying a sword. She climbed into the back seat of the cab and proceeded to have a conversation with a mouse in her purse. Am I complaining? Not me- she was a great tipper- but I just have to say, it's no mystery why the news is always bad! - Taxi Driver Ed

Graffiti: Is it Art or Vandalism?

In considering this question for my second doctorate, I pondered some of East Side's colorful alleyways as well as several street signs and billboards around town. Some graffiti does seem to have classical artistic qualities. The use of <insert art terms here> are indeed present in some of this so-called vandalism, particularly on some of our city's less appealing old buildings. The graffiti style is used to great effect on the walls of the youth home downtown and <insert other place here>.

On the other hand, some graffiti is clearly vandalism. In particular, one of the city's new "Welcome to Void City" signs, intended, according to our Mayor, to welcome an increasing number of tourists to the city, has been redecorated with the pathetic scrawl, "We suck!" To call this art would be profane! - A Perpetual Student
